Weapons and heroes

What each weapon type is for, why the main slot matters, and how hero investment pays off.

What each weapon type does

WandHeals a percentage of HP each time its skill fires. Two S wands stack. The reason mid-power players beat bigger ones.
DaggerAt exotic rarity, applies a healing-reduction debuff; two daggers can shut healing off entirely. Best PvE build with lifesteal.
SwordClears debuffs (the answer to daggers). Mastery weapon for some heroes.
MaceShield. The Skull's mastery weapon; stuns, which also fixes goblin hitbox trouble.
GunFreezes and slows.
CrossbowRole unclear to the community; possibly focused single-target damage.

Slots and mastery

Weapon skills fire from any slot. The only thing the main slot changes is the hero's mastery bonus (for The Skull, a mace in main gives +10% HP and +5% attack; other heroes list their own bonus and amount on the character screen). Auto-equip picks the highest power number and will happily ignore mastery, so set the main slot by hand. The in-game "suggested weapon" hint per hero is accurate.

Weapon rarity matters more than level for skills: the scepter, for instance, only gets strong at ancient or mythic. Level milestones at 60 and 90 reportedly add a small percentage. unverified

Healing math in Invasion

Lifesteal is disabled in PvP. Only wand healing and natural HP recovery work there. An S wand heals about 5% per skill use, two wands about 10%. To beat a wand user you must deal more than that share of their total HP inside their skill cooldown, or bring daggers to reduce their healing. Two exotic daggers negate it completely.

Maxed HP recovery for a legitimate account tops out around 1.6B. Opponents far above that relative to their HP are cheating; it's common in lower leagues and there's nothing to do about it. Use Battle Stats (upper left, before claiming rewards after a fight) to see exactly what killed you.

Eternal weapons

Only S-tier weapons can merge to Eternal. You need two exotic copies plus an eternal stone from the boss-raid Exchange shop. The stone costs raid orbs of three colors (each raid boss drops its own element), and raids are limited to five tickets a day, so expect ten days or more per stone. Eternal S weapons are the biggest single power jump in the game and also the longest, most expensive grind; think of them as the endpoint, not a mid-game goal. Known bug: the game may crash when you add the second exotic to the merge.

Weapon scrolls and bluestones

  • Run chest rounds: sweep every chest in Chapter 1, then 2, then 3, and repeat. Chests respawn.
  • Daily Tower runs with the 5x multiplier on new floors.
  • The mini-store in the top-up menu sometimes sells scrolls.
  • Bluestones feed the smithy, which only produces up to Epic at low odds. The best sustained rate is standing on a fast-reset boss; see the bluestone table.

Hero leveling

Every hero contributes "all heroes" bonuses at level thresholds, so nothing spent on a bench hero is wasted. Two orders are recommended by long-time players: bring every hero to 50-60 first (cheap, and one hero from 115 to 120 costs about as much as four heroes to 60), then push your main to 130; or push your main to 130 first and then raise the rest from the top down. disputed Both agree on the destination. Orange elixir per level climbs to around 2,000 near 130. Star 2 is a noticeable jump; an exotic hero roughly doubles your power.

The evolution caveat

Evolving a lower-rarity hero up to exotic keeps its original star bonuses (24, 50 or 100% depending on where it started) rather than the 400% attack and HP a natural exotic gets at four stars. Evolution potions are the scarcest currency (about one a day from the raid shop; 15 for Phoenix), so spend them on a hero you'll keep using, evolve a 600-shard hero rather than chasing six stars, and don't expect an evolved hero to match a pulled one. Endgame bosses are expected to need the rarest heroes, which is the argument for banking hero pieces early.
